Leisure Centre Extension and Refurbishment

This high profile project was undertaken for Mole Valley District Council and their operating partners Fusion Lifestyle. Grove Millican provided Project Management and Quantity Surveying services as well as leading a team of design, engineering and specialist consultants. Leatherhead Leisure Centre is a large multi-useage facility catering for a wide range of sporting and leisure activities and includes a 25m six-lane swimming pool, diving and training pools, sports hall, sports barn, squash courts, entertainment, conference and banqueting suites. The existing building has been comprehensively refurbished and upgraded whilst new extensions provide a state-of-the-art gym, dance studios, beauty treatment suite, soft play area, crèche, entrance reception and cafe. The centre is located in a beautiful parkland setting and benefits from a new entrance piazza and four new external Multi-use Games Areas.

Works commenced on site in spring 2009 and were completed nearly two years later on time and within budget. During this period the centre continued to operate requiring careful planning, programming and management to ensure the minimum of disruption whilst maintaining a safe environment for customers. The new leisure centre was formally opened by HRH The Duke of Kent on 24 March 2011.
