Grove Millican has extensive experience in the commercial sector over many years with projects ranging in scale and scope from conversion of listed buildings for new commercial uses, through new build mixed use developments and industrial redevelopments to office and retail fitting out. More recently a growing proportion of our work has been focused on the medical sector in both the private and NHS spheres.

A challenging project to convert an elegant six storey Victorian building from its former use as a college to provide 17 exclusive medical consulting rooms employing high quality finishes and bespoke joinery. The full range of environmental and specialist services are threaded through the building at each level including air conditioning, IT, advanced communications and ten-person lift. |

Extension and Refurbishment of Leatherhead Leisure Centre |

This high profile project is being undertaken for Mole Valley District Council and their operating partners Fusion Lifestyle. Grove Millican are providing Project Management and Quantity Surveying services as well as leading a team of design, engineering and specialist consultants. Leatherhead Leisure Centre is a large multi-useage facility catering for a wide range of sporting and leisure activities and includes a 25m six-lane swimming pool, diving and training pools, sports hall, sports barn, squash courts, entertainment, conference and banqueting suites. Whilst the existing building will be subject to comprehensive refurbishment, a new extension will provide a state-of-the-art gym, dance studios, beauty treatment suite, soft play area, creche, entrance reception and cafe. The centre is located in a beautiful parkland setting and will benefit from a new entrance piazza and four new external Multi-use Games Areas. Works commenced on site in spring 2009 and are expected to take nearly two years to complete. During this period the centre will continue to operate which has required careful planning, programming and management to ensure the minimum of disruption whilst maintaining a safe environment for customers. |

Office upgrade, Richmond Place, Petersham Road, Richmond |

Richmond Place is a 1970s built commercial development in a conservation area close to Richmond Bridge and with views over the river. It consists of three floors of offices over a fully enclosed semi-basement car park. The project successfully refurbished the existing accommodation so as to provide fully upgraded facilities and services with a contemporary look to the interior design. The brief included introduction of new suspended ceilings, raised access floors, comfort cooling and efficient heating, replacement windows with high specification solar control glazing, new lift and designer styled toilets and entrance area. |

Hospital Main Entrance and Retail Development, St James's Hospital, Leeds |

This is the most recent scheme in a series of developments pioneered by BHE, an innovative healthcare operator, to provide a new hospital main entrance and reception facility designed by award winning Toh Shimazaki Architecture. The scheme includes 14 retail units, a 400 seater restaurant, kitchen and servery, meeting rooms and ancillary accommodation for the Leeds NHS Trust, one of the biggest hospitals in Europe. Works commenced on site in late 2007 and were completed in summer 2009. |

This fascinating project on a former World War Two fighter base involved the conversion of historic Air Force buildings to provide new offices, training centre, auction suite and disaster recovery facilities for the Radiocommunications Agency. |

Wind Tunnel Facility, Dunstable |

Our clients for this project were international wind engineering consultancy RWDI Anemos. Our brief extended not only to designing and managing the procurement of their new headquarter offices and workshops but also to the design and construction of a new purpose built 25m long wind tunnel and turntable test bed. |

Refurbishment and Reorganisation of Existing Manufacturing Facility, Mitcham, Surrey |

Carclo Technical Plastics, are manufacturers of high tolerance injection moulded plastic components principally for medical applications produced in exceptionally clean and controlled environments. Grove Millican designed and managed the conversion and reorganisation of their plant at Mitcham to provide new production cells together with refurbishment of offices, reception and toilets. The works were carefully phased and co-ordinated to ensure the minimum of disruption or loss of production. |

BUPA Wellness Health Clinics |

Our work with BUPA has concentrated mostly on their network of Wellness health clinics. We have been responsible for the design and procurement of new clinics in Central London, Nottingham and Livingston (Scotland) and refurbishment and conversion work in Birmingham, Newcastle, Brisol and Glasgow. |

Extension and Refurbishment of Heathcote Medical Centre, Tadworth, Surrey |

The medical group practice at Heathcote had outgrown their existing 1980's built premises and came to us to design and manage new extensions to provide additional consultation rooms, records storage and administration offices. The project also called for extensive internal conversion and refurbishment work to the existing centre all of which had to be carefully planned and co-ordinated to enable the doctors and other staff to continue with the day-to-day business of caring for their patients. |
